The Rule of Saint Augustine, with an attendant Commentary by Blessed Alphonsus Orozco, O.S.A. Written about the year 400, the Rule of Saint Augustine is one of the earliest guides for religious life. The Rule is organized into eight chapters: Purpose and Basis of Common Life; Prayer; Moderation and Self Denial; Safeguarding Chastity and Fraternal Correction; The Care of Community Goods and the Treatment of the Sick; Asking Pardon and Forgiving Offenses; Governance and Obedience; and, Observance of the Rule. The Commentator, Blessed Alphonsus Orozco, O.S.A., confessed that he turned to the Apostolate of the Pen at the expressed command of the the Mother of God. After his death, his writings were offered in evidence of the author's sanctity and orthodoxy. He was beatified by Pope Leo XIII on January 15, 1882. Red cloth covered boards with title on spine lettered in gilt. No dust jacket. Gently bumped spine tips, square corners, clean pages and tight binding. With ecclesiastical approbations. 84 pages.
